Educational issues played a critical role as part of the Canadian government’s extensive copyright review last year with issues such as fair dealing, academic publishing, and emerging teaching tools taking centre stage. What does the review mean for the future of fair dealing and open education in Canada? How could open access and the growing use of open educational resources influence the policy debate? What does the data tell us about how access to educational materials is changing in the age of the Internet?  Professor Michael Geist, Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law at the University of Ottawa will examine the link between Canadian copyright and open education as well as discuss how the education community can ensure that its perspectives are heard on Parliament Hill.
